OnePlus 5 competes directly with Apple iPhone 7 and almost destroys it any every single way. This smartphone is slim, dual camera and high end material used to make it exterior body. With it’s gorgeous display and lightweight feel. Will you be considering OnePlus 5? Find out below in OnePlus 5 detailed review.

The material is used to make back part is metal anodization and it’s very slippery. You should use back cover to protect it. It is the thinnest phone I ever used! It has alert slider at one of side which has 3 positions & LED Notification has user customizable colors. It has rounded corners and edges. OnePlus offers a much more limited selection of color options. The power button at right, the headphone jack on the bottom right, the USB Type-C port in the bottom centre, and the speaker on the bottom left side. Turning towards the front, the OnePlus 5 has a home button which a fingerprint scanner.
The display is 5.5 inch 1080p AMOLED panel with a 16:9 resolution. The display has vibrant colors that are full of contrast and deep blacks. The display is very bright so direct sunlight isn’t a real issue.
The base model offers 64GB storage and 6GB of RAM which is faster and 128GB storage and 8GB of RAM model is very fast. I must say this is the faster phone ever! Apps open very fast and scrolling is very smooth. Touch display feels good. Typing experience ia great. I open 5 tab on web browser and 4-5 apps but this phone doesn’t get hang and always felt snappy. It also handle gaming very well.
The OnePlus 5 also keeps the ever so useful alert slider, which makes switching between different notification profiles and effortless experience. The OnePlus 5 also has two SIM card slots. OnePlus 5 comes with Bluetooth 5, which is currently only supported by a couple other phones. I must say this is the Best Gadget under $550 of 2017.
The inbuilt speakers are decent but not great. The speakers are loud and it get distorted at maximum volume. There’s no expandable storage or wireless charging, and the phone neither water resistance nor dust resistance.
OnePlus 5 has the same battery to OnePlus 3T, 3300mAh battery but battery performance is quite good. It gives around 23-24 hours of battery life with heavy use. Now, the best part about OnePlus 5 is dual camera. The primary sensor is 16 MP and f/1.7 aperture with electronic image stabilization.
The secondary sensor is 20 MP and f/2.6 aperture but this lens doesn’t offer OIS or electronic stabilization. The photo quality is fantastic and image is very sharpe and color accurate. It also support low-lighting feature but it depends on which sensor you are using. Like if you are using secondary sensor then you will get poor image compare to primary lens.
The camera is capable of recording 4K video. You can switch to sensors while recording a video. OnePlus 5 is running OxygenOS which is based on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat with some customizations.
Customer Review Summary:
- “Lovely slab of tech”
- “Poor quality control – Poor customer support”
- “Simply amazing, especially for the price”
- “Best phone of 2017”
- “Switched from S8 to OnePlus”
I really like OnePlus 5. They did awesome job! Under $550 I think this is the best smartphone in market right now. There are other phones in market with these specs but they are costly compare to OnePlus 5. OnePlus 5 still mission some features like water proof, dust resistance, expandable storage etc but under $550 I think it is hard to find these specs.
